Wishes
Watercolor on paper | Ranging from A5 to large-scale works over 100 × 80 cm
The Wishes series began to unfold in Morocco during the summer of 2025. Immersed in the rich palette of the medinas, the traditional textiles, and the vibrant local cuisine, I found myself captivated by expansive skies, sunsets and resonant calls to prayer.
Following my third solo exhibition, Longing for Peace, I experienced a moment of quiet uncertainty—a pause before determining my next artistic direction. In response, the paint began to flow with unexpected urgency, releasing a buildup of creative pressure. It felt like weeping directly onto paper, channeling emotion into deep turquoise, lime green, cadmium red, and soft lilac.
Ranging from intimate A5 studies to expansive, large-scale works over a meter wide, these watercolor paintings evoke skies charged with dualities: hopes, dreams, and human aspirations floating alongside toxic fumes, airborne chemicals, and lingering atmospheric particles. Columns of vibrant color rise like flames, filling the horizon.
At its core, Wishes examines the fundamental nature of longing—how a burning desire or a quiet whisper can consume and transform us.
